Apple introduced Apple Intelligence in June 2024, setting out plans to bring generative AI into iPhone, iPad and Mac experiences.
What Apple announced
The announcement described writing assistance, image tools, changes to Siri and a combination of on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute. It also outlined a ChatGPT integration. These were launch announcements and planned capabilities, not a promise that every feature was immediately available on every device.
Our original coverage blurred that distinction in places. Use Apple’s June 2024 announcement for the original scope.
