Last weekend our director David headed out for the 2021 65 mile cycle challenge. In support of our client, and a very worthy cause for Katharine House Hospice.

KH Hospice organise the Cycle Challenge event every year, with a number of different ride distances from fun family rides up to the 65 mile maxi route. A large number of cyclists were in attendance, for a great route around the Staffordshire countryside and lanes.

For any keen cyclists, or anyone looking to challenge themselves, we would highly recommend entering next years event!

This month our Managing Director David decided to take on his latest challenge for charity, by swimming The Solent. The stretch of open ocean from the Isle of Wight across to the UK main isle.

The swim was raising money for Motor Neurone Disease with the Ian Pratt MND Foundation.

David successfully swam 3.2 miles across The Solent and raised over £750 for charity.

Last week we raised more money for a local charity ‘Worth Unlimited‘ helping change young lives and reach their potential.

Janey who runs the local region is part of David’s BNI Networking group, so to raise money David has ridden up Mt Snowdon and thrown in some business adverts along the way for those who sponsored. See the full length video of the expedition below.

On Saturday 23rd May Our Director Chris Smith carried out a 24 hour non-stop online gaming stream for Charity!

It’s no secret at inLIFE we are big tech fans, and this expands into gaming too. From the Arcade machine and Nintendo history collection in our office, to gaming from home and streaming online with the popular gaming stream platform ‘Twitch’.

Our director Chris has his own professional gaming channel where he does just that! With a large following and viewers from all over the world. But this weekend he took it to the next level!

Chris managed to raise £800 for MacMillan Cancer Support – and in the process chatted to viewers from all over the UK and the world. Playing online games such as Call of Duty as well as interactive games with viewers throughout the full 24 hours. He started at 9am Saturday Morning and finished at 9am Sunday morning!

We are all very proud of Chris for this very different and very tiring achievement in the name of Charity! After catching up on some much needed sleep and a couple of days off from gaming.. normal gaming service has resumed for him.

Donations are still open if anyone would like to add additional support here

You can also follow Chris the rest of the time on his Twitch account here

He did it! Our CEO after 3 years ago setting a goal of doing the Staffordshire Iron Man lost nearly 5 stone and set a new insane goal of running a 100k (62.5 mile) Ultra Marathon!

After initial training injuries and set backs, David finally achieved his goal at the weekend and completed the South Coast Challenge. Raising £900 for his daughters school charity going towards education for under privileged children in Cambodia.

Take a look at the video here, including running on the edge of cliffs, dodging Brexit protestors & slightly losing his mind in the process!

In June, David is heading up 3 of the UK’s biggest mountains within 24 hours alongside his fellow business buddies from the BNI Elite Networking Group. This is the Three Peaks Challenge.

Starting at Ben Nevis in Scotland, then onto Scafell Pike in the Lake District and finishing with Mount Snowdon in Wales… all in the space of a day. The total walking distance is 23 miles and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft). On top of this we have our awesome volunteer driver Emma from the Networking group who be shipping these peaky blinders over 460 miles in that time.

This was all orchestrated by our pal Gareth over at Design Pit. Raising money for Parkinson’s UK which is a charity close to his heart.

Please click here to make a donation, we would all be most grateful for the support!

The team includes (l to r): Emma Smith, ES Research – David Whitehouse, Inlife Web Design – Hannah Montgomery, Golddust Marketing – James Haughton, EYS Electrical – Phil Arkinstall, Ark Media – Gareth Robertson, Design Pit – Chris Whybrow, Pinehill Hospital

From desk dweller to Iron Man!

Having done no sporting events since P.E at school 1996 our Director took it upon himself to train and enter the Staffordshire Ironman 70.3 race!

On Sunday 10th June he literally took the plunge (into Chasewater) and 70.3 miles later he made it over the finish line!

6 months of solid training (with no prior experience) and 4 stone lighter David crossed the line in 6 hours 20 minutes. Well under the average “7 hour” time for first timers. Placing 1193 our of 2400 entrants and just 1871 entrants that managed to finish the race.

David completed the 1.2 mile swim across Chasewater in 00.43.27 / 56 mile bike ride in 02:55:52 and the run in 02.27.28

We now have a shiny Iron Man medal hanging in the office and a considerably lighter Director.

You can also take a look at David’s personal blog here if you want to read and watch how he did it from start to finish.

So the question is now.. what next? David would like to maintain his newly found level of fitness but at the same time try something a bit different! He his now on a 4 week training plan for the Spartan event in July. After that he would like to do Man vs Mountain (a marathon over Mount Snowden + swim & obstacles).

349The inLIFE team are competing in the National Forest Adventure Farm annual Agri-lympics. The yearly charity event supports their charity of the year with every penny going to CLIC Sargent charity.

We are getting our team of inLIFE geeks (who usually spend most of their time in front of a computer) and entering them in to Agri-lympic events such as hay bay rolling, tractor pulling and more. We are doing this to support our client at the National Forest Adventure Farm as well as raising money for the CLIC Sargent charity.

So please show your support for the CLIC Sargent Charity, and you’ll get to see the inLIFE team covered in mud, sweat and blood as a bonus!

We have set up our JustGiving page for the event which is simple, fast and totally secure. We are really grateful if you could give what you can, our page can be found here.
