Stay one step ahead in 2024

2023 was a crazy year, to say the least, but as we start a new one, let us take a glance ahead to see what the future holds by looking at some of this year’s website trends.

1 – One-page websites

The most effective sites aren’t always the most complicated. One-page websites are ideal for presenting a particular topic or your company. One-page websites have the impression of a flyer or poster. All of the information the consumer requires is in one location, eliminating the need for many pages, and enticing them to call you. Whist this does work for a quick product promo or event, it’s not great for Search Engine Optimisation and getting found on Google, so bear that in mind.

2 – Simplicity

If you don’t want a one-page site this year, don’t worry; in 2022, websites will likely be lighter, instead of having all content on the homepage. Fewer words, calming colours, and vibrant imagery.  It’s all about call to action and driving users to get in touch. While infographics and tightly structured compacted images were popular a few years ago, websites in 2022 web design will appreciate space and gentle motion while still expressing your message in a style that evolves as visitors explore. This development will make it easier to engage with clients on mobile devices.

3 – Sharing not telling

Encouraging people with your message means drawing them in. This has traditionally been accomplished through the use of imagery. However, in 2022, web design has reached a point where it is not enough on its own. While scrolling in 2022 you’ll see more video backgrounds and animations that attract visitors to your site. These are called micro-interactions; they’re subtle, yet noticeable, and offer extra information that photographs don’t while ensuring all user needs are met, including functionality, reliability, usability and pleasure. They enable customers to interact with the messaging while also providing the website with a sense of life and energy. Micro-interactions can take numerous forms, such as hovering over an icon to trigger an animation, the cinematic way the pages scroll down, or the way a button reacts on hover – all of which give the user a tactile experience.

4 – Design trends

Aside from big website trends, there are a few design trends that could be seen a lot in 2022, some of which carrying over from 2021. Here are a few…

 – Dark mode design provides a variety of functions, as well as the benefit of reducing eye strain, especially on a mobile device. Dark mode, on the other hand, gives your website an ultra-modern look while highlighting other design features.

 – A full-height hero banner has a billboard feel to it, and it directs the user’s attention to the main message rather than being sidetracked by what’s beneath it.

 – Graphical aspects within photographs that can aid in the reinforcement of your company’s branding

In 2022, its expected to see clean, bright, eye-catching, yet interactive websites. That use space, videos, animations, and colour to enhance the user experience.
